E.C.DF/BA - Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith, the Biblical Apostolate

Mission and Tasks of the Commission

The sacred heritage of the faith contained in Sacred Scripture, the sacred tradition and the Magisterium of the Church was entrusted to the Bishops in communion with the Successor of Peter.

By its doctrine, witness, and worship, the Church teaches, celebrates, and testifies. It thus perpetuates with each generation all that she is in herself, all that she believes.
By remaining attached, the faithful, united to their pastors, persevere forever in the doctrine of the Apostles, the fellowship, the breaking of the bread, the prayer and the sacraments, in order to keep, practice and profess the faith transmitted to them.

The purpose of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith is to monitor the evolution of theological, catechetical and biblical doctrine taught in the country, to analyze and evaluate its impact on the daily practice of the faith of the Rwandan faithful.

Consequently, its task is to help the Bishops, authentic Masters and teachers of the faith to :
- Keep and promote the integrity of the faith,
- Encourage theological studies to increase the intelligence of the faith and to respond to new questions arising from human culture and the progress of science and technology,
- Initiate or accompany pastoral research on the Faith and the Rwandan culture,

- Examine the writings and opinions that appear contrary to the correctness of the faith and dangerous, and if it results that they are opposed to the doctrine of the Church, provide adequate refutations so that neither errors nor perilous doctrine are not spread in the Christian people ;
